ABOUT
FURANO
If
you are looking for a ski holiday in Furano Japan then Furano Ski
Holidays will be able to advise you on all aspects of skiing Furano and
surrounding districts.
Furano, like Niseko, is situated on
the Northern Island of Hokkaido. Furano is a little colder than
Niseko and has even dryer powder (if that is possible), to the
annual fall of around 8 metres.
The Village
Furano
is a neat town which rises to the edge of the ski fields. There are
plenty of taxis and buses available in the area but little traffic.
The accommodation for skiers is very close to the ski lifts, and
there are plenty of restaurants within a short walking distance from
the hotels and “pensions” (bed and breakfast establishments).
There are NO western apartments in Furano.
From
the ski-lifts there is a regular shuttle bus service to down town
Furano where there is a vast array of shops and eating
establishments ranging from all styles of Japanese and western
cuisine (including McDonalds if that is your preference).
Shuttle timetables, dining and entertainment guides etc are
available in the foyer of whatever establishment in which you stay.
A
few of the places well worth a visit are:
The
bakery below the New Prince Hotel - This has good coffee and a
variety of different foods – open all day
Ningul Terrace – A series of craftsman cottages over the road from
the bakery, best visited at night.
Try
a “baked milk drink” at Chu Chu café or a scotch at Soh’s bar. (For
“miserable smokers” – something’s lost here in the translation!) –
open 7pm until midnight.
