ACCOMMODATION

There are 4 main types of accommodation in Niseko:

  • Western apartments - These are brand new and the same as found in Australia, North America etc.

  • Cottages - Smaller and more economical.

  • Hotels - Usually twin rooms with ensuite and include breakfast.  These work out to be around the same price as apartments but with no cooking facilities.

  • Pensions:  These are the cheapest form of accommodation.  Managed by a Japanese couple, provide breakfast. The rooms range from Western with ensuite to Japanese (tatami mat/futon) with share bath facilities – “his and hers”.  

The food is so cheap that it is normal to eat out each evening.

 Every second building in Hirafu is a local eatery where you can get a wide range of foods Japanese, Korean, Western etc and the bill will top out at around $15pp.

Don’t bother bringing alcohol as the stores sell wine, beer and spirits cheaper than duty free, although in restaurants the price is much the same as Australia.  Local Sapporo beer and sake is highly recommended.
